Overview

We will take the coastal drive that will lead us to the temple of Poseidon, the god of the sea. On our way we shall stop at the cultural center of Niarchos. An amazing building complex consisted of the Opera house and the new National Library of Greece. All these surrounded by the largest Mediterranean garden which was designed in accordance with the principles of sustainability and is full of local plantings, like olive and almond trees, rosemary, thyme, oregano, sage and many more (photo stop). We continue our ride admiring some of the venues of the Olympic Games of 2004, as well as numerous sandy public beaches. Our next stop is the lake of Vouliagmeni, a rare geological phenomenon where the brackish waters of the lake are constantly renewed both from the sea and underground thermal springs. The lake is located in an idyllic place and is considered to be one of the hidden treasures of Attica region (photo stop). After 1,5 hours since we began our tour, we will arrive at Cape Sounio, the southernmost point of Attica and one of the most sacred and mystical places for the Ancient Greeks. Our driver will provide you with your entrance tickets and all necessary info regarding this magnificent ancient temple that is overlooking the Aegean Sea and the Greek islands. You will have 1 hour free time to enter and stroll around the Temple of Poseidon and of course to take the pictures of the stunning 2.500 years old marble temple with the blue background of the Aegean Sea. On our way back we will stop by the sea for lunch/dinner in a traditional Greek tavern. After Poseidon is time for god Dionysus… A glass of wine or ouzo (…or both!!!) accompanied by some traditional Greek meze, is the most delicious way to conclude this full day experience.
